On June 18, Athletic Director Kelley Hartley Hutton and Chancellor Ronald L. Elsenbaumer revealed the new branding for PurdueFW athletics during a news conference at the Gates Center on campus.
The new logo preserves three elements traditionally important to “our alumni, our donors, our friends, and our fans,” said Elsenbaumer. These are the Fort Wayne name, the Mastodon team name and mascot, and the color blue. “We’d like to build on that legacy and build on our prior accomplishments” while we “align our stellar athletics program with the internationally known Purdue University athletics brand.”
Elsenbaumer noted that getting feedback has been vital to the process of transitioning to PurdueFW. He hopes the new branding will help tell “our story about how we are important to this community and how this community is important to us.”
Keep an eye out for more transition updates in the coming weeks!
