2018 Top 50 Awards

top 50-2018

For the 2018 Top 50 awards, 30 students with Arts & Sciences majors, minors, and certificates were recognized. All twelve A&S departments were represented.

The annual Top 50 awards honor students “who not only excel academically, but who also make their mark by giving back to the IPFW campus and their communities.” To be eligible for consideration, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Applicant materials are reviewed by a panel of judges who represent faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. Students can receive this award twice during their academic career.

Many of our awardees were featured on Endeavors, including Meghan Menchhofer, whose summer 2017 adventures were recapped in a two-part feature. We also wrote about Menchhofer’s 2017 trip to Myanmar and photography exhibit at the Allen County Public Library.  Shelby Smiley was a recent Major Factor interviewee, and Andrew VonGunten took part in our A&S Faculty and Staff Appreciation video.

We also covered research presentations by Smiley, Bre Anne Briskey, Helena Carvalho Schmidt, Luis Nuñez, Isabella Palhoni De Lima, Tianna Schuerman, and Nicholas Yergens for the 2017 and 2018 Student Research and Creative Endeavor Symposia. Finally, stay tuned for our upcoming 2018 graduate spotlights to learn about several more 2018 Top 50 winners.

Check out the Top 50 website for more information about the award. Congratulations to all of the 2018 Top 50 honorees!
