On March 28, the Honors Program sponsored a bipartisan discussion, “Gun Control: Yes or No?” The multidisciplinary event featured panelists Drs. Michael Wolf and Georgia Wralstad Ulmschneider (political science), Dr. Lawrence Kuznar (anthropology), university police chief Tim Potts, and student Brandon Blumenherst (political science, communication).
Each panelist brought a unique set of expertise and experience to the conversation. Rather than emphasize the pros and cons of the debate, the event focused on what we can do to drive the discussion past opposing positions and toward solutions that benefit society. You can read more about the event in this Journal Gazette article and read more about Blumenherst’s contribution to the student-led movement against gun violence in this Endeavors feature. While the audio is sometimes poor, a live-stream of the event is found on the Honors Program’s Facebook page.
