Fort Wayne’s World Wetlands Day Events

On Friday, February 2, IPFW’s Environmental Resources Center (ERC) is taking part in Fort Wayne’s World Wetlands Day celebrations to promote this year’s theme: wetlands for a sustainable urban future.

IPFW alumna Betsy Yankowiak (B.S., geosciences, ‘03), director of preserves and programs at Little River Wetlands Project will present “Secrets of a Wetland: Keeping Your City Clean and Green” at 1 pm at the Aboite branch of the Allen County Public Library.

Bruce Kingsbury, professor of biology and ERC director, will speak about Indiana’s seasonal wetlands and their importance to local wildlife at 7pm in J.K. O’Donnell’s restaurant.

There will be two additional events: a World Wetlands Day walk and Urban wetland hike. All events are open to the public. For more information, see this News-Sentinel article .
