The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) featured geology alumna April Knox (B.S., ’13) in an advertising campaign in the September 2016 issue of Explorer Magazine. Knox was featured as the recipient of the 2015 Kenneth H. Crandall Memorial Grant, which is funded by AAPG donors.
Knox has been very successful since graduating from IPFW’s Department of Geosciences. She was accepted into the University of Alaska Fairbanks’s masters in geology program, where she studies sedimentology/stratisgraphy with a petroleum focus. Knox has also conducted fieldwork on Northern Alaska in ANWR. In spring 2016, Knox started working as an exploration geologist at Fort Knox gold mine outside of Fairbanks. She will continue in this position as she finishes her education and pursues her dream of becoming a full-time exploration geologist.
