Congratulations to James Drake (continuing lecturer of Spanish), who organized the successful Spotlight on Argentina as part of this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations. As these photos show, many enjoyed learning about and listening to Argentinian music and dance from Fred Astaire Fort Wayne and Cuarteto Tanguero. About 115 students and community members learned basic tango from Patric Didier and a team from Fred Astaire. The next evening, the team from Fred Astaire returned to perform contemporary tango with the players from Cuarteto Tanguero for an audience of 165.
The final event organized by Drake will be held on Friday, September 23rd, at the Fort Wayne Cinema Center with a screening of the international film, The German Doctor, and IPFW faculty member Andrés Montenegro’s The Secret of the Lost Station, followed by a panel discussion.
